We are assisting our client, a respected Center City Philadelphia law firm, in the identification and hiring of a full-time Paralegal to support its growing medical malpractice practice. This is a salaried, hybrid role offering an opportunity to work closely with a talented attorney on complex and meaningful cases.
Responsibilities
Case Management & Documentation: Draft and file pleadings, discovery requests and responses, complaints, settlement petitions, affidavits of compliance, and other court documents; maintain case lists, status sheets, insurance charts, and related records.
Research & Summarization: Review and summarize depositions, medical records, expert reports, and other key documents; conduct legal research using Westlaw.
Discovery & Trial Preparation: Track and follow up on discovery responses; coordinate trial preparation, including exhibits, expert scheduling, voir dire, verdict sheets, and points for charge; draft and organize pretrial and settlement memoranda.
Client & Expert Communications: Correspond with clients and experts regarding trial dates, records requests, and case updates; manage scheduling and logistics for expert testimony.
Administrative Support: Assist with overflow legal secretary duties, support settlement distributions, and provide other assistance as needed.
Qualifications
Experience: 4+ years of paralegal experience, ideally within medical malpractice or personal injury litigation; catastrophic injury experience strongly preferred.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Westlaw, Microsoft Office, and legal case management systems.
Core Competencies: Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
Communication: Strong writing, research, and client communication skills.
Mindset: Adaptability and the ability to transition from defense-side experience to plaintiff-focused work, if applicable.
Work Model: Hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 remote), with flexibility to work additional days in-office during trials or based on attorney needs. (New hires are expected to be in the office full-time during the first 30 days for onboarding and integration.)
