Director, Cloud Operations & IT

  • Malvern, PA
  • Information Technology

We are assisting our client in the hiring of their Director, Cloud Operations & IT. Our client provides cloud-based collection software solutions for banks, credit unions, and fintechs to collect and manage their portfolios.

Specifically, they provide the technology and data necessary to increase collections efficiency, provide a digital consumer experience, reduce staff costs, anticipate delinquencies, and provide insight into future credit decisions.

News: They signed 27 new financial institutions in the first half of 2026 alone, ranging from $64 million to $5.6 billion in assets across fourteen states - and they recently added one of the two largest credit unions in the US, a $60 billion institution serving more than three million members.

The company is backed by a strategic investment from one of the world's largest software-focused private equity firms, made specifically to expand its agentic AI capability, alongside a new portfolio intelligence product and a predictive data model launched this year.

This person owns the reliability, scalability, and cost of the Azure-hosted production SaaS platform, the infrastructure their engineering and data teams build against, and the internal Microsoft 365 environment employees use every day.

This is a working leadership role. The team is one Senior Cloud Operations Engineer and two IT Support Specialists, so the Director sets direction and stays in the environment doing the work, day to day.

Reports to the Chief Financial & Risk Officer. The position is hybrid and requires that you're local to Malvern, PA.

What You’ll own:
  • Production cloud operations: availability, performance, and scalability of the Azure environment, including App Services, Container Apps, Azure SQL, Entra ID, Application Gateway, and networking.
  • Reliability and incident management: monitoring, alerting, escalation, recovery, post-incident review, and the metrics behind customer availability commitments.
  • Customer connectivity: VPN tunnels, Azure Virtual WAN, firewall posture, and repeatable turn-up playbooks that keep new customer implementations fast and secure.
  • Engineering enablement: environments, deployment pipelines, identity, certificates, and secrets management that make releases consistent and predictable.
  • Infrastructure cost: Azure operating spend, cost reporting and forecasting with Finance, waste reduction, and a defensible cost-to-serve view for the executive committee.
  • Internal technology and end-user support: Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, Entra ID, Intune, endpoint and access lifecycle, and service levels employees can count on.
  • Automation and agentic operations: Power Platform, Copilot agents, AI-assisted monitoring, and automated runbooks for recurring work, with governance to match.
  • Infrastructure security and risk, in partnership with the SVP of Enterprise Risk Management: identity and access controls, network and device security, support for audits and customer security reviews, and remediation of infrastructure findings.
  • Team leadership and hands-on delivery: lead and develop a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer and two IT support resources, manage vendors, and personally execute the technical work a team of that size cannot absorb.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in cloud, IT, or infrastructure operations with hands-on ownership of a production cloud environment; typically 10 to 15 years total experience.
  • Production cloud at scale: a customer-facing SaaS environment on Azure where uptime and performance were contractually committed and measured.
  • Deep, current Azure expertise: App Services, Function Apps, Container Apps, Azure SQL, Entra ID, Application Gateway, networking, and the monitoring stack.
  • Corporate Microsoft 365, device management, identity, and end-user support owned as a primary function, not a side responsibility.
  • Networking and security fundamentals: VPN, Virtual WAN, segmentation, identity, secrets, and certificates, with credibility in an architecture review.
  • Experience leading a small technical team while staying hands-on: comfortable being both the escalation point and the person doing the work.
Nice to Have:
  • Agentic operations and AI-driven automation: Copilot in Azure, Copilot for Security, Copilot Studio, or Power Platform agents.
  • Regulated financial services: banks, credit unions, or fintech.
  • Infrastructure-as-code with Bicep, ARM, or Terraform.
Be YOU,
~Ed~
